Responsibilities
- Provide operations and maintenance support for network equipment, including DWDM/SDH/Ethernet/IP/MPLS, transmission equipment, and submarine cable landing stations’ SLTEs.
- Troubleshoot and resolve Level 1 faults in network equipment or customer circuits, collaborating with NOC technicians and local service providers to ensure timely resolution.
- Support service delivery and provisioning for Carrier/Metro Ethernet, SDH/DWDM, IP/MPLS, Voice, and international customer/backbone circuits.
- Perform installation, commissioning, and upgrades of transmission/DWDM, IP/MPLS, Ethernet, and other network devices as per project plans.
- Assist in submarine cable repair operations, including PFE operations and COTDR testing, in coordination with cable repair ships.
- Maintain accurate inventory of hardware assets, update OSS/BSS tools, and adhere to internal/external audit requirements.
- Participate in rotational shift duties and 24/7 standby responsibilities, with frequent travel to multiple Points of Presence (PoPs) within Singapore and occasional travel to overseas sites in Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam, Bangladesh, and Brunei.
- Execute network circuit migrations, including physical/optical layer migrations, to support infrastructure upgrades.
- Coordinate certification field-level testing and collaborate with technical teams for issue resolution.
- Monitor environmental performance to ensure minimal network interruptions and optimize facility maintenance costs.
- Drive innovation and transformation in network operations, ensuring efficiency and availability.
Qualifications
- A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in network operations or a related field.
- Strong understanding and working knowledge of SDH, DWDM, Ethernet technologies, and submarine cable system operations.
- Proficiency in using network testing equipment such as SDH/DWDM, Ethernet, OTDR, and COTDR.
- Proven experience in network project implementation and circuit/equipment migration.
- Excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills with the ability to adapt to unfamiliar challenges.
- Ability to multitask, work under pressure, and perform tasks with minimal supervision.
- Willingness to travel frequently within Singapore and occasionally to overseas locations.
- Flexibility to work rotational shifts and provide 24/7 standby support.
Day-to-Day
- Conduct routine maintenance and troubleshooting of network equipment.
- Collaborate with internal and external teams to resolve network issues and ensure service delivery.
- Perform field-level testing and support network upgrades and migrations.
- Maintain accurate records of network operations and hardware inventory.
- Travel to various PoPs and network sites for operational and maintenance activities.
- Monitor and optimize facility infrastructure to ensure reliability and cost efficiency.
